Weed Flags: How to Pick a Cannabis Flag for a Room, Garage or Grow Space

We have a cannabis flag in the garage. It is the reason the garage feels like it has a personality instead of a lawn mower. I painted the strain on it, so I am biased, but I also know what makes a flag look right on a wall and what makes it sag. Here is what I check, using our cannabis flag as the example, because it is the one I know best.

Size: 34.5 x 56 inches is a wall, not a window

A lot of flags online are 3 x 5 feet, and a lot of "wall flags" are half that. Ours is 34.5 x 56 inches. That is big enough to be the only thing on a garage wall and small enough to go over a bed or a couch without touching the ceiling. Measure the spot first. If the wall is narrower than 56 inches, the flag folds at the corners, and a folded flower looks like a bad haircut.

Fabric: knitted polyester, printed on one side

The flag is 100% polyester, a knitted fabric at 4.42 oz per square yard. It has some drape to it, so it hangs flat against the wall instead of crackling like a plastic banner. The painting is printed on one side and the back is blank. That matters if you plan to hang it in a window, because the room gets the art and the street gets the blank side. On a wall, nobody sees the back, so it does not matter at all.

Grommets: two, and that is enough

There are two iron grommets, one in each top corner. Two nails, two hooks or two pushpins and it is up. Ours went up in about a minute and has stayed put. If you want it tight with no sag, add a small nail in each bottom corner. In a rental, two removable hooks do the job because the fabric is light.

Picking a strain: go by the wall

There are 23 designs on the menu, and the easiest way to choose is to look at the wall it is going on. Black Afghan sits on a black background and looks right in a garage or a dark room. Super Lemon Haze is on bright yellow, which is a lot of yellow in a good way. Gorilla Zkittlez is on a red that leans cranberry. Purple Haze is purple, which is what everybody expects. Khalifa Kush and OG Kush are both on the menu for the people typing "kush flag" into a search bar, and I know you are out there. Each strain has her own page if you want to read first, like Purple Haze or Super Lemon Haze.

STRainbow, for anyone searching "weed pride flag"

STRainbow is six of my paintings in rainbow order: Gorilla Zkittlez, Wedding Glue, Super Lemon Haze, Girl Scout Cookie, Berry Diesel and Purple Haze. Room, garage or grow space

In a bedroom or a dorm, hang it over the bed like a headboard, centered, with the top edge about a foot below the ceiling. In a garage, put it on the wall you see when the door goes up. That is where ours is, and it is the first thing anyone mentions. In a grow space, keep it out of the direct light and away from fans and drip lines. It is art, and art likes a dry wall.

Made to order

The flag is printed when you order it, which adds a few days but means nothing gets made that nobody wants. Production takes 3 to 7 days, then US delivery is another 3 to 7 business days, so give it about two weeks.
