Framed or Unframed: How to Choose a Cannabis Print for Your Wall
People ask me this one a lot: should I get the print framed, or just the poster? I have done both. Every print in our house is in a black frame now, but I have taped plenty of posters to walls too. Here is how I think about it, and what to check before you pick.
What you get either way
Every print starts as one of my paintings, the mature female flower of a strain, 24 x 30 acrylic on canvas. The print is on thick matte paper, 10.3 mil, 189 g/m2. Matte matters more than it sounds. A glossy poster turns into a mirror under a lamp. This one does not. The single strain posters come in 18x24 and 8x10, and the big composite posters come in 36x24 and 18x12. All of it is in the poster prints collection.

Unframed: when the poster alone makes sense
Go unframed if you already own a frame, if you like to swap prints out when the mood changes, or if the wall is a dorm, a garage or a grow space where tape or clips are the plan anyway. Both poster sizes are standard, so a frame from a craft store will fit an 18x24 or a 36x24. The 8x10 prints only come unframed, and they drop into any 8x10 frame you already have. That is the size I use on a shelf or a desk. If you want a bare poster, make sure the frame dropdown says No Frame, which is the first choice on every poster page.
Sour Diesel, 8x10. Unframed only, and it fits any 8x10 frame.
Framed: when to let us do it
Framed is what I pick for a gift, and for any wall I have to look at every day. It shows up ready to hang. The frame is ayous wood, .75 inch thick, with an acrylite front instead of glass, so it is light and it does not shatter in the box or on the way to the nail. The hanging hardware is already on the back. The whole thing hangs in about a minute. Framed comes in 18x24 for the single strains and 36x24 (or 18x12) for the composites. The 8x10 does not come framed. The framed prints collection shows every strain in every color.
Dream Factory, 18x24, in black, red oak and white.
Black, red oak or white
Ours are all black. Black makes the colors louder, it has gone with every wall color we have tried, and I change my mind less that way. Red oak is the pick if the room has wood floors or wood furniture. It reads warm and a little less serious. White is for a white wall when you want the print to float with no hard edge around it. If you cannot decide, look at the trim in the room and pick the frame that either matches it or sits far from it. Both work. Halfway between is what looks off.
The three frame finishes up close.
Size the print to the wall, not the strain
An 18x24 is right for a hallway, over a dresser, next to a door, or in a bathroom. A 36x24 wants a couch or a bed under it. The rule I use is that the art should be about two thirds the width of the furniture below it. An 8x10 belongs on a shelf or a desk, or on a wall in a row of three or more. If you have the big wall, everything 18x24 and up lives in the large prints collection.

What to check before you order
Check the size dropdown first, then the frame dropdown. Check the background color against your wall: Sour Diesel sits on navy, Dream Factory on lavender, Blue Dream on light blue, and the photos on each page show the rest. Then give it about two weeks. Every print is made when you order it, framed or not. Production takes 3 to 7 days and US delivery is another 3 to 7 business days. If you need it by a date, email us at cannaqueensproject@gmail.com and we will tell you straight.
